UNIVERSITY OF NORTH BENGAL
Department of Bioinformatics started in the year of 2017. Currently our running Post Graduate diploma in Bioinformatics (PGDBI) of one year duration consists of two semesters. PGDBI course has been started from the academic year 2018-2019. We are going to start Post graduate course in Bioinformatics from the academic year 2021-22. The department has been initiated to meet the higher education, research and innovation in research areas of bioinformatics. Currently there are two assistant professors working in this department. The research works currently running in our department are in the field of comparative genomics, biological network study, prediction of molecular structure of different bio-molecules and their interactions. This research works deals with high computational resources and different computational techniques. There are different computational tools and software are used for analysis of various types biological data. There are different programming languages like C, Java, R, Python, Perl and usage of different software covered in PGDBI course which very helpful for the student exploring research work in different branches of life sciences.
Two year M.Sc. programme lays emphasis on understanding of the Fundamentals of Cell Biology and Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Basic Bioinformatics & Computer Application.
