UNIVERSITY OF NORTH BENGAL
The very location of the University of North Bengal is the strongest ground for its establishment though apparently during its inception it was considered to be a disadvantage as it was not near to Kolkata. But near an airport and important railway station i.e New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri Junction near the hills and near the plantation areas, on the gateway to the north eastern areas of India and border areas of Bengal i.e. Assam, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sikkim and above all an area which did require priority consideration from the educational policy makers.
Apart from the faculty-specific prospectuses, all students are given one handbook which contains information on University of North Bengal’s history and ideals; university courses; facilities for students especially Hostels, including health facilities. The Anti-Ragging Committee, Anti-Ragging Squad and the Sexual Harassment Cell support them. There are eleven Hostels in the University campus.
Most of the students accommodated in the hostel are appointed in Schools, Colleges, Universities and nationalised banks and multinational companies. Some of them are qualified NET/SLET conducted by UGC/WBCSC. Some students staying in this hostel are also appointed as Assistant Masters/teachers by WBSSC and WBPSC.
